About 2008 Toyota Camry
Overview
Following an extensive redesign in 2007, the Toyota Camry four-door sedan received only minor updates for 2008. Long known as a major player in the midsize sedan market segment, the 2008 Camry comes in 11 trims, at four equipment levels - the standard Camry, the SE, the LE, and the XLE, as well as a Hybrid version, which was introduced in 2007.
All trims feature a standard 2.4-liter, 158-horsepower, four-cylinder engine linked to either a five-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission. The SE, LE, and XLE trims are also available with a 3.5-liter, 268-horsepower V6 engine with a six-speed automatic transmission. The EPA rates mileage for the four-cylinder engine at 21 mpg in the city and 31 on the highway, while the V6 averages 19 mpg in the city and 28 on the highway.
The Camry Hybrid ups fuel efficiency to 33 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway, thanks to its Hybrid Synergy Engine, which consists of a 147-horsepower, 2.4-liter, four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle gas engine and a 40-horsepower electric motor. While idling or at speeds under 30 miles per hour, the electric motor provides power for the Camry Hybrid. The gas engine takes over during acceleration or when the driver requires greater performance.
The Camry Hybrid also comes equipped with a nickel-metal hydride battery, regenerative brakes, an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (ECVT), and a hybrid suspension. In addition, a Hybrid-unique ECO Drive feature enables drivers to monitor and control the amount of energy used by the climate-control system, especially when the car is running on battery power.
Overall, drivers like the Camry's roomy interior, optional V6 engine, and Toyota's strong reputation for quality and reliability. However, with few improvements in features or power for 2008, the sedan has lost ground in the midsize marketplace, especially with its 158-horsepower four-cylinder engine. The Camry should retain its spot at the top, but it'll take some extra effort to stay there.

Excellent cruising car, gas mileage on the highway usually in mid 30's, fantastic sound system, heated leather seats are really nice in the winter, tinted windows cut down on the glare in the sun, engine is very powerful and has great passing power.

This is a great car. The exterior styling is definetly awesome. Interior is very roomy and comfortable. The controls on the dashboard are well designed and easy to use. The JBL Audio system is just terrific. Steering wheel mounted audio controls are sweet. Excellent stability and perfect aerodynamics. Fun to drive. Handles very well even in windy conditions and in torrential pouring down rain.

A nice stable, reliable car. Nothing fancy, but I love it's slave-like reliability. Performance – acceleration is very good on the V6, braking is also very effective, handling is decent Build Quality – there's more to be desired in this area Appearance – both interior and exterior styling is great Cost of Ownership – gas mileage, maintenance, and longevity are all great incentives for not buying German Fun Factor – the car is fun to drive compared to US makes, but German cars are in a different league.

There is quite a bit of the 2008 Toyota Camry that reminds me of it's upscale cousin Lexus. The Materials, Fit and Finish, Technology, Luxury,Design and Performance are outstanding. I was extrememly impressed with the high amount of standard equpiment.- Most of it being highend advanced technology. From the moment the engine is started, you feel elevated among the other cars. The Camry gives such a smooth, sophisticated ride you forget that you're not in a high end luxury sedan. This is especially true when soft leather, various metallic accents, gleaming chrome, highly pollished wood grain, push button start, fancy nav system, and more come together seamlessly. The Toyota Camry is an outstanding car. You certainly know where the Lexus ES 350 came from.
