It's in N when I attempt to go from 2wheel to 4wheel drive. I have been shifting with ease between the 2 & 4WD for the past two weeks depending on the weather. However yesterday when I attempted to put in to 4WD the shifter moved up but the C/D light in the middle (of the four green wheels) just stayed on so after trying to put it back into 2WD for 15 mins I just put the truck in drive. Now there are no lights on except when I try to engage 2WD the middle light goes off and the two back green lights come but only when I have pressure on the shifter. Can I drive with out the 2 or 4WD engaged? Will I cause damage to anything if I drive my truck to the car wash a mile away?

Not thinking car wash would be top of list........but it should be ok as long as you get it to roll in 2wd... get it to a shop on a lift. you will prob. find something has come loose or stuck......
