2014 ford escape titanium
I am having a similar issue. My escape
was leaking minimal coolant from a
hose underneath the engine. I've had
this vehicle just under a year,
purchased used.
I added coolant when I recieved the
low coolant notice and never had an
issue. Recently I went to start it nd
recieved an engine overheat message.
Not possible since it hadn't been driven
for over 24 hours and the weather was
cool. After trying to override this error
by restarting the vehicle, my battery
failed. I had the car towed to the ford
dealership where they found the
leaking hose. In total, $940 fix
included replaced hose, coolant flush
and diagnostics. They wanted me to
replace the battery as well but I
declined. When I picked it up and
drove it around, I recieved the low
coolant than engine overheat
messages. Pulled over on the freeway,
shut it off and restarted it. The service
engine light stayed on. I immediately
took it back to the dealership. A new
battery was put in after they
determined a low/bad battery can
throw off the computer system. Two
days after picking it up, again, low
coolant, engine overheat and after a
restart, service engine light remains on.
I've read that this has been an
undiagnosed problem with the
computer systems and can be quite
dangerous as the vehicle will
immediately start shutting down. If
you're on the busy freeway, you have
very little time to pull over. Now it will
go back to the dealership. Is there a
permanent fix for this issue? My
coolant level has not changed and
engine temp was not high so I'm
assuming this is an error with the
computer system.
