2012 Subaru Impreza Warning Lights

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So, about a couple weeks ago I had check engine light (flashing), Cruise control (flashing), ABS (Solid) and Traction (solid) went to Autozone got codes I do remember P0700 and there where two other ones (forgot), but I read maybe the gas cap was loose. So, I tightened it up still same thing but by the end of the day all warning lights went away. For the past two days, check engine light (solid), cruise control (flashing), ABS (solid), traction (solid) and the newest one flashing rapidly AT OIL TEMP. The other new thing thats happening it seems as if the car jerks a bit often. Went to get codes read and got P0700 (Transmission Control Module) and P0740 (torque converter clutch solenoid) showing up. I am concerned this time because the warning lights aren't going away and my car is jerking more. What possibly could be the issue? Also, possible cost? Anyone else had this? It's currently at a car shop hopefully getting looked at (not sure if they are able to see it yet)

You already have the car in a repair shop which was the thing to do. What I would do next, if possible to you, is to get a second opinion and compare the estimates. A remanufactured Transmission Control Module can cost $300.00 to $400.00 and the clutch solenoid $120.00 to $150.00. The solenoid is an internal part of the transmission. If you are dealing with a reputable shop, the cost for the repair of both parts should be around $1300.00 parts and labor. I have seen a charge of $1600.00 but other parts were replaced at the same time. Keep in mind that you can replace the entire transmission for around $3,200.00. And always ask for a WRITTEN WARRANTY, remember that words fly away with the wind. Good luck to you!

WOW the same exact problem I am currently having on my 2012 Impreza! I have an appointment with the dealer this Monday June 11. I am getting the same codes also, Lynette, what became of the transmission? did they have to replace it? I heard that the CVT trans cannot be rebuilt, many who have rebuilt them have also failed because they have to be rebuilt in a clean environment. Please let me know how you do.

Grace, I believe it was the Valve Body needed to be completely replaced. They covered mine under the warranty, I would go to the dealer and have them report it to Subaru. Your just happened to make bit over 100000. My crapped out at 91000. See!s to be working like normal since the fix. Take to the dealer to do the diagnostics to make sure Valve body is the issue.

THIS IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY if you have less than 100k miles. Just adding my 2cents for anyone now searching through google and landing here looking for help with this issue. FYI if your vehicle is less than 10yo but just over 100k miles and the dealer is unwilling to fix for free....then perhaps take your argument directly to Subaru of America and hopefully you can get some help there. MY STORY: My 2012 Impreza is at a Dealership now in NJ. They say it is the Valve Body (it's a module in the Transmission) . Cost to fix is around $1400-$1600 if not covered under warranty. If you own a 2012-15 Impreza, 2013-15 CrossTrek, 2014-15 Forester or 2015 WRX, your CVT warranty is automatically extended by Subaru of America to 100k miles or 10years, whichever occurs first. My 2012 is at 99500miles exhibiting these same symptoms, Check Engine, ABS, Traction control all on. Oil at Temp and Cruise on and flashing as well. For the record, based on easy fix suggestions here as well as other forums I've searched looking for help when I started having the issue two weeks ago, I've replaced Gas Cap with OEM as well as Brake switch (OEM) and all brake light bulbs, just trying to fix the problem myself to avoid a dealer visit. If you've had the car for a while you should have received a letter from Subaru of America in July 2017 stating they extended the warranty. Dealerships should automatically know your transmission warranty is extended and should fix it for free.

I have a 2012 subaru impreza still paying for it.It just hit 118000 miles and oil temp light flashing abs light check engine light by what I have read I'm gonna be out of pocket 1600

Hi I have a similar issue however, I was told the problem is coming from instrument wiring harness panel. I took it to a Subaru dealer and they said the aftermarket cruise control and remote start system was found to be spliced into the instrument panel harness causing extensive resistance to the rest of the modules. They said they tested the component at circuit number 1 engine harness, at connector numbers 1 main harness, pin numbers 4 and 6. Finding all pins tight the specified value is 1 ohm or less. the measured value was 2 ohms. Thus found the instrument panel wiring harness to be the point of concern since the instrument panel wiring harness is imporperly routed and has high resistance and aftermarket components have been tapped into the immobiler and other parts of the instrument harness. They quoted me to replace the whole instrument panel at $2600, should I just find someone to remove the aftermarket cruise control and remote start? Could this still be a problem with the valve body (since they also quoted me this as well).
