Repair cost / file a claim?

Asked by Guru5HRMH Jan 18, 2018 at 07:21 PM about the 2009 Chevrolet Malibu 1LT FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Someone hit my rear passenger door while I was in
the store.  The door doesn't shut properly and
when it rains, the rear floorboard fills with water.
Does anyone know an estimated price to fix this.
I'm not sure if I should file a claim on my insurance
policy or not ($200 deductible)
2009 Chevy Malibu IT with 144,000 miles.   Any
thoughts or suggestions on how to proceed?

That's what insurance is for. You probably should have filed a police report for hit and run. Discuss this with your insurance company.

I didn't file an report with the police because I'm not sure when it exactly happened since i am rarely using that side of the car. I only noticed it when I heard water sloshing in the rear passenger door. By then the water had leaked into the passenger floorboard and had a good 1" of standing water in the floorboard. I'm with allstate. I have a $600 deductible, save driving bonus lowers my deductible to $200. Due to me not realizing the damage, the carpet in the floorboard is wet and it doesn't smell good. :(
