I just changed my engine and tranny in my 98 VW jetta and it starts but when I put it in gear the car won't move at all

Used transmission? Might have got a bad one

No I took it out of another jetta I had and it worked when it was in the other car

Automatic or manual? If manual, maybe clutch..... or auto or manual either, double check the shifter linkage. Can you feel it drop in to gear when put in Drive than just won't move, in any gear, including reverse?

It's a manual I checked the shifter linkage and it looks good and I can feel it drop into gear but it doesn't move and it does it in reverse to. Just wondering could it be something with the drive axle?

If you mean spark plug wires, No.

I found out the problem the cv joint in not all the way in. But I can't manage to get the cv joint in all the way do you have any tips on how to do that?
