Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Stopping at a stop sign, went to take off & noticed car rpm's rev'd higher than norm &
car was sluggish at accel. Sounds like transmission isn't shifting gears automatically
when shifter is in overdrive. Have been driving it several mnths manually shifting gears,
but if i start in 1st, i can't hear trans shift into 2nd when i move shifter to 2nd. but if i
start out in 2nd, car isn't sluggish on take off and manually shifting from 2nd to 3rd i
CAN hear the trans shifting up. but once in 3rd gear (drive) i man. shift to overdrive &
again, can NOT hear transmission upshift. Almost seems like i have 2nd & 3rd gear
only when manually shifting. putting car in drive or overdrive starting out, i never hear
trans upshift at all plus car is slow at take off. No service engine lights on, but if i hit a
bump or pothole, my ABS light comes on & stays until car is turned off. no unusual
noises, leaks, & fluid levels all ok. Had scanned & revealed codes:  28-Trans control
switch error; 17-Crank RPM signal shorting; 37-Brake switch on; 82-Ignition control 3x
signal error. Please Help! Love my car dearly and already had trans. rebuilt back in ' 98
@ 64,000miles (torque convertor). Car only has 117,000 miles on it now.

Could be just a vacume leak, all so is fluid level correct? If so may not hurt to change transmission filter. If that do,es not help, you may need to rebiuld it or replace it.

I know what you mean. They are great cars. Take it straight to a reputable transmission shop and have it diagnosed before spending any money trying to "fix" it. Sounds like its cooked to me which is disappointing when you've had it done so recently, but hopefully its something minor as has been suggested. The bottom line is the sooner you have it looked at the more damage you might be able to prevent.
