The front-end design of modern Chevrolet trucks and SUVs, including the 2021 Chevrolet Suburban, had always been known to spark divided opinions. The diesel engine had impressive pickup, matching V8-level torque, which made it suitable for both city driving and highway cruising. However, the Suburban's truck-based underpinnings revealed both strengths and weaknesses. The brakes were superb, providing confidence-inspiring stopping power, although the vehicle had noticeable body roll and was prone to turbulence and crosswinds.
In comparison, the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L offered two familiar engines: a 3.6-liter V6 and a 5.7-liter V8, both paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission, available with either rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.
