Overview

The 2022 Cadillac CT5 is a mid-size luxury sedan in its first generation, debuting in 2019 as a 2020 model year. The CT5 and CT5-V replaced the Cadillac XTS and XTS V-Sport. The CT5 series competes with cars like the BMW 5 Series, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, and the Audi A6, while the CT5-V Blackwing, covered as a separate model, is closer to a BMW M5.
The CT5 is a front-engined, rear-wheel drive (RWD) sedan. All-wheel drive (AWD) is available on every trim level for an additional $2,600. This is a departure from the precedent set by the Cadillac XTS the CT5 replaced, which was a front-wheel drive (FWD) vehicle with the option of AWD. The CT5 is built on the same Alpha platform that underpins the Chevrolet Camaro and the Cadillac CT4.
All 2022 CT5 trim levels feature the same 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder, which is also featured in the Cadillac CT4, XT5, and XT6, along with the Chevrolet Blazer, the GMC Acadia, and the Buick Envision. The 2.0-liter turns out 237 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. In the Premium Luxury trim, buyers can opt for the LGY 3.0-liter turbocharged V6, which for a $3,500 additional charge develops 335 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque. The CT5-V also uses the 3.0-liter turbocharged V6, but with a “dual-volute” air passage that doubles the volume of exhaust air into the turbine. This modification also increases horsepower to 360 and torque to 405 lb-ft.
The 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder, the optional 3.0-liter V6, and the CT5-V’s 3.0-liter all couple to a 10-speed automatic transmission. For the 2022 model year, the CT5 is a carryover with minimal changes aside from a new extra-cost color: CT5 Sport trims are now available in Blaze Orange. Super Cruise 1 and Super Cruise 2 packages will also be made available, but not until later in the model year.
The 2022 Cadillac CT5 is available in three trim levels, or four if you consider the CT5-V to be the top trim. Below it are the three versions of the CT5: Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Sport.
The CT5 is available in eight colors for 2022. Summit White and Black Raven are both free of charge, while the four metallic colors cost $625 extra. Infrared Tintcoat and Crystal White Tricoat both cost an additional $1,225, and neither is available on the CT5-V.
Available upgrades for the 2022 Cadillac CT5 include a Technology Package with a 12-inch digital HD color configurable driver cluster and a head-up display for $1,100, a Climate Package with heated and ventilated front seats and a heated steering wheel for $1,090 ($1,190 on CT5-V), a Navigation and Bose Premium Audio package for $1,350, and a Parking Package with a rear camera mirror, heated body-color mirrors, cabin air ionizer, hands-free decklid, automatic parking assist with braking, rear pedestrian alert, HD surround vision and a surround vision recorder for $1,790. Appearance packages include an Exterior Accent Package with a rear spoiler, run-flat tires and 20-inch wheels for $3,195, a Radiant Package with 20-inch run-flat tires, monochrome emblems, unique 20-inch wheels, and a bright grille for $3,495, an Onyx Package with a black grille, a gloss black nameplate, and 20-inch gloss black wheels with run-flat tires for $3,895 (or $2,795 on the CT5-V).
Unique packages for the CT5-V include the Cold Weather Package with heated seats and steering wheel ($600), the Navigation Package ($2,100), and the Parking Package with a rear camera mirror, heated exterior mirrors, HD Surround Vision, and an HD Surround Vision recorder ($1,790).
Standalone options are largely cosmetic items like monochrome Cadillac emblems and a rear spoiler that are part of packages above, as well as mechanical options like an engine block heater and an automatic battery charger.
The 2022 Cadillac CT5 starts at $37,295 for the base Luxury trim. Premium Luxury starts at $41,795 and Sport at $42,995, and the 2022 Cadillac CT5-V has a starting price of $50,095.
