Overview

The 1993 Toyota 4Runner continued to have many of the same qualities of other 2nd-generation 4Runners: very dependable, very reliable, poor gas mileage. However, it was the first year that the 2-door model was not available, as sales for the 4-door greatly overshadowed those of the smaller model.
The standard engine remained a 2.4-liter I4, with the step-up being a 3.0-liter V6. Both engines were available as all wheel drive, which now featured Toyota's 4WDemand shift-on-the-fly transmission.
Despite the advanced engines, reviewers continued to complain about a lack of power, while almost uniformly praising the remaining aspects of the SUV.

they are awesome. not too big and definitelt not too small. have taken it many places. the only let down is the independent front suspesion, but it is great for on the road. off the road it could use a bit more articulation, but hey- as an all rounder it keeps up with the best of 'em.

A fantastic car to own and drive. At almost 160,000 miles the biggest problem is a rust, which is not bad considering it is a daily driver in Saltyroads, USA. Seemly a head gasket is broken, and it does start hard and burn oil, but it still runs like a champ. This beast has gotten me through many tough spots, both on ice and in ditches, and has plenty of room to haul anything you could possibly need to haul. I would drive this before any other "SUV" or "Truck" Has more miles in it before i drive anything else!

Powerful V6 Engine. Add a Cold Air intake and you can get an anwesome sound. Not very fast, although it is a heavy 4x4. All made in iton, with chrome bumpers. Very solid, stable, fun to go off-roading. Has never failed me.
