About 1991 Chevrolet Camaro
Overview

The 1991 Camaro marked the return of the Z28, missing from the Camaro lineup since 1988. The fast ride promised by the Camaro may be a relief for its passengers, none of whom seemed to find the 1991 model to be of acceptable comfort. Performance and acceleration are off-the-charts for this model, but passenger comfort, cargo room, and gas efficiency lag far behind. Of course, Camaro lovers love them for the thrill of the ride, not the thrill of conversation over the typically loud engine. Listening to the V8 roar can quickly cover up any whines of discomfort from one's person. There is another very rare option for the 1991. Well it really started in 1988, and did not start to catch on very well until 1989 and up. In 1991 in fact only 478 units (confirmed by GM)produced. It was/is known as the 1LE pachage. Here is what the 1991 version consisted of.Chevrolet built 478 Z28 Coupes with "1LE" equipment for 1991. As in 1989 and 1990, Ordering the RPO G80 Limited-slip rear axle & G92 RPO G92 triggered the build. RPO G92 required one of two engine combinations, the 305ci LB9 V8 with 5-speed manual, or the 350ci B2L V8 with 4-speed automatic transmission. When ordered with air conditionÃ?Âing, RPO G92 ($466) included engine oil cooler, 4-wheel disc brakes (except for a brief period when 4-wheel discs were deleted with a $287 credit), and dual-converter exhaust. When ordered without air condiÃ?Âtioning, RPO G92 ($675) added heavy-duty front brakes, aluminum driveshaft and spare wheel, special shocks and fuel pickup, and gas tank baffle. Fog lamps were deleted for weight savings and improved cooling. I will be posting a new forum for this package in a few days. Enjoy :)

A+ love taking this car out and stomping on all the import non sense. Fun in straights and even more fun in corners. Gas mileage sucks, but you don't buy this kind of car to be environmentally or economically friendly.

I bought my '91 Chevrolet Camaro RS primarily as a commuter car that would get me to and from work quickly. (I had a bad habit of waking up late.) The performance of the V6 engine was adequate even though the Camaro was heavier than it should have been for a V6. The handling seemed loose; an upgrade to the tires, wheels, struts and springs were a necessity for high speed turns. OVERALL in stock form it was a good car, however upgrades were positively necessary for any kind of performance needed.

acceleration excellent, under powered braking, could be better, good handling characteristics considering size and weight, no major repairs needed, appearence is truely original definately suggests American Muscle, good gas mileage for V8 especially comparing to todays engines, not much difference, the car is fun to drive, still an eye catcher and there were not that many built so soon to be a true collectors/classic car. I would recommend this car to a friend. But it must be a convertible and a true Z28.
