About 1989 Chevrolet Camaro
Overview

Not much changed in the 1989 Camaro. Camaro brought the Rally Sport back in 1989, this time with the abbreviated "RS" as a trim name. The RS came standard with a 2.8L V6, a slightly smaller engine than some expected, as it was designed to lower insurance costs.
The only V8 available in RS models in 1989 was the LO3, a TBI 305-cubic-inch 170-horsepower engine that put out 255 foot-pounds of torque at 2400rpms. A new throttle made for much smoother acceleration in the 1989 model.
The IROC-Z and RS convertible seemed to ignore the insurance worries, each arriving with a V8 engine capable of 170 horsepower. An optional 5.0L V8 (the L98) was also available, but only in the IROC. Two versions of the L98 were available, one at 230 horsepower and another with 240 horsepower and a 3.27 Borg-Warner rear axle.

I've owned this IROC for 15 years. I bought it from the original owner here in Oregon. It's always garaged and covered. It's been a mulitple award winner at regional car shows. I would not sell or trade it for anything!

My camaro has a 2.8L V6 and it is everything a car should be. It looks great, drives great, the 5-speed tranny gets you great gas mileage, and has really decent power and you wont pay so terribly much for insurance.
