Overview

Volkswagen made only minor upgrades to its popular Beetle for 1976. The car was now fully carpeted, and came with a rear window defroster and special metallic paint in addition to other standard paint colors. The front seats were redesigned for improved comfort, and the adjustments for the seat backs were improved as well. Also, the Super Beetle was discontinued.
The Beetle came with an air-cooled, rear-mounted, fuel-injected four-cylinder engine that generated 58 horsepower. A four-speed manual transmission, dual braking system, four-wheel independent suspension, and a flow-through ventilation system were also part of the package.
Standard features for the Beetle included seat belts for the driver and passengers, two-speed windshield wipers with a pneumatic washer system, swiveling sun visors, coat hooks, assist straps, folding rear seats, and luggage space under the front hood and in a three-foot carpeted compartment behind the rear seats. A convertible top was optional.

The looks are what I love the most! The build quality is german in every sense. The engine only puts out about 40hp but this car isn't meant for speed it was made for the love of the drive. Beutiful!

Another convertible I owned. A very nice classic car even tho it's slow, no a/c and 4 gears transmission. I still enjoy very much driving this convertible bug. Beetle is very easy to fix and cheap on cost. I wish I can own another beetle convertible someday.

The beetle is a pretty good car all around,it could use things like a/c,and a heater that doesn't suck the hot air off the exhaust manifold...Does really well on bad roads, really fantastic on snow and ice. Vw's are pretty sturdy, and rarely have big issues...but when they do have something major...be prepaired for a project that will take days... The engine is really good,on gas if properly tuned...I get 34mpg,its not very fast top speed is about 83mph,has superb handling very light and tight. Very sturdy suspension. and VERY VERY FUN to drive/own lots of thumbs up and peace signs.
