About 1974 Honda Civic
Overview

Honda introduced a few changes to its Civic this year. The 1974 Civic engine was a bit bigger, now at 1.237 cc and a whopping 52 horsepower, certainly not making it a race car, but meeting Honda's slogan of "it gets you where you want to go."
The length also grew by a little more than 8 inches, up to 146.9 inches, and even the bumpers changed a bit so that '74 Honda Civic could meet new impact standards.
The early Civic had an independent coil suspension and still came in only two basic models, the Civic coupe and Civic hatchback.
Although still new to people in general, its value, efficiency, and diminutive size eventually became cool and the 1974 Honda appeared in such movies as Kramer vs. Kramer, Girls Just Want to Have Fun, Lethal Weapon 3, and Crash.

This is the only car I have ever owned that I sold for more money "used" than I paid for the car "NEW". We once drove 250 mile with 4 adults and 2 kids and luggage and still averaged over 30 mpg. What a great car!

45 mpg, no payments, cheap insurance, easy to work on, easy to find (most) parts, chic value, easy to park. 1200cc easy to modify (NOT a CVCC), no smog required in California.

Was just given one by a neighbour after it stood for ten yrs outside under a tarp. A Deluxe version with roof console with map reading light, interior light and clock with chrome overriders on bumpers front and rear. Maybe it was just an Australian version. Anyway, I changed all fluids, hoses and it started after 20 secs of cranking. Unreal! It has just 61K kms on it so I intend respraying it in its original burnt orange colour and will use it on Club plates which any vehicle over 30 yrs is eligible to be on. It runs beautifully but may need new brakes due to inactivity. All I will do is fit a CD player and I will have a cheap runabout

What can be said other than it is a Honda. Had it 2 days and the engine blew. Dad bought me a new 1900 CC,tossed it in and I was back in business. Got mad, went back to New Orleans and Alternator gave out. Bought a new one, couldn't get the mounting bolt all the way in so "wedged it" in. Ah what a dumbass I was back then :)
