Who Makes McLaren Cars?

McLaren was founded as a racing team by New Zealand native Bruce McLaren, in the 1960s. It competes in Formula One, as well as other racing series. McLaren Cars was founded as a spinoff in the 1990s to develop the McLaren F1, a three-seat supercar that set world speed records. In the 2010s, McLaren Automotive was founded to produce supercars and eventually, hypercars. Its vehicles are built at its headquarters in Woking, United Kingdom, which is also the home of its Formula One team.

McLaren’s first road car was the iconic McLaren F1 in the 1990s. It would not produce another road car until the MP4-12C in 2011. It launched the P1 hybrid hypercar as a spiritual successor to the F1 in 2013. It produced a number of mid-engine supercars, including the 650S, 570S, 675LT, 720S, and Senna hypercar. Today it offers the Artura hybrid supercar, 765LT Spider supercar, and Solus GT track-only hypercar.
