Who Makes Maybach Cars?

Maybach was founded in 1909, originally producing engines for airships. It transitioned to well-crafted automobiles in the 1920s, until World War II brought it to an end. It was purchased by Mercedes-Benz in the 1960s and the name was used to create exclusive hand-built versions of its luxury sedans. In the early 2000s, it was revised by Mercedes-Benz as a division of Daimler to produce standalone ultra-luxury sedans, called the 57 and the 62. Today, Mercedes-Maybach offers high-end versions of Mercedes-Benz models and are built in Germany.

What Sort of Vehicles Does Maybach Make?

The Maybach 57 and Maybach 62 were large and lavish luxury sedans that were based on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class platform, but were their own unique models. The financial crisis of the 2000s suffered from poor sales of these models. Today, it offers high-end versions of Mercedes models, including the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class large sedan and Mercedes-Maybach GLS-Class full-size SUV. It also offered a Maybach-branded EQS electric SUV. A Mercedes-Maybach SL-Class convertible is expected to arrive for the 2026 model year.
