What’s New for the 2025 Ram 3500
Trims for the 2025 Ram 3500 are Tradesman, Big Horn (aka “Lone Star” in Texas), Laramie, Rebel, Power Wagon, Limited Longhorn, and Limited. 2025 brings a mid-cycle refresh with a minor styling revolution and major enhancements to power and tech.
Design
The whole Ram truck lineup was refreshed for the 2025 model year. For the 3500, that means an updated grille, newly standard LED headlights and taillights, and new wheel designs. As on the light-duty Ram 1500 and the less-heavy-duty Ram 2500, Ram has varied the 3500’s grille style from trim to trim, so that each gets its own distinct look.
Powertrain
If you want a HEMI on your 2025 Ram truck, look to the HD lineup. The V8 was discontinued for the Ram 1500 in 2025, but it remains standard on both the 2500 and 3500. Specifically, that base powertrain pairs a 6.4-liter gas-powered V8 with a freshly updated eight-speed TorqueFlite HD automatic transmission. An electronic shifter mounted on the steering column is newly standard for 2025. Four-wheel drive (4WD) is available on every trim of the 2025 pickup, but it’s only standard on the 3500 Power Wagon and Rebel. Other variants come in rear-wheel-drive (RWD) 4x2 form by default and can be upgraded to 4WD.
If you need more than the HEMI’s 405 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque, not to worry: The 2025 3500 can do much, much better. The available 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel was updated for this model year; it ups the ante to the tune of 430 hp and a stunning 1,075 lb-ft of torque. Every 2025 Ram 3500 uses the same eight-speed automatic transmission.
The Cummins engine allows for a towing capacity of up to 36,610 pounds with a gooseneck trailer hitch. Using a conventional hitch, the top-end trailer weight rating is 23,000 pounds. Best payload comes from the V8 and measures 7,590 pounds.
Interior
The Ram 3500 Tradesman is a true work truck, as evidenced by its standard configuration: the Regular Cab, featuring two doors and an 8-foot pickup bed. The 3500 Big Horn is outfitted in the same way, though both are available with the four-door Crew Cab that’s standard on higher trims. The four-door is available with either a 6-foot-4-inch or an 8-foot box, while the larger Mega Cab, which offers two rows of seating plus additional interior storage space, comes only with the smaller bed. That most comfort-oriented option is offered only on Laramie, Limited Longhorn, and Limited trims.
Technology
The Ram 3500’s newsiest tech feature introduced for 2025 is a 10.25-inch passenger screen, which Ram says is the first and, so far, only one offered in the segment. This landscape-oriented screen was first seen in the 2025 Ram 1500 earlier this year. As in the 3500’s light-duty sibling, the screen is useful for allowing a passenger to manage entertainment and navigation or keep an eye on the camera views, of which there are many available. Both a surround-view camera and a Cargo View camera are available on any trim, and could be very handy for towing and hauling purposes. The optional digital rearview mirror also has a Tow Mode which lets it “see through” a trailer.
The base central infotainment screen has been upgraded for 2025 to the 12-inch version which was previously only offered on higher trims. The new step-up option is a 14.5-inch display. Lower trims come standard with a six-speaker sound system, though a premium nine-speaker iteration is available as part of a package starting with the Big Horn trim. The 3500 Limited Longhorn and Limited come with a 17-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
Safety
It may be designed for hardcore work-truck applications, but the Ram 3500 still helps its owner out with advanced driver-assistance features, more so now than ever before. Adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning are both newly standard, and additional safety and convenience features including Drowsy Driver Detection, traffic-sign recognition, and active lane management are also offered.
Pricing and Release Date
The 2025 Ram 3500 Heavy Duty pickup starts at $48,565 including destination, making it actually a little less expensive than the base trim in 2024, despite the additional content. It’s scheduled to arrive by March of 2025.
