The Lexus RX was one of the earliest players in the now-monstrous luxury SUV space, and it remains a top competitor today. Lexus has expanded the RX lineup over the years, adding new powertrains and trims. Today, the vehicle is available in a staggering number of configurations, and with hybrid or plug-in hybrid power.

What’s New for the 2025 Lexus RX
Lexus introduced a new color option for the also-new Black Line Special Edition package in 2025. It also expanded the availability of the F Sport Design package to the RX 350 and RX 350h trims. Inside, the RX now gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen as standard.
Design
The RX still sports Lexus’s oversized spindle grille shape and sharp “check mark” LED daytime running lights (DRLs), but its overall shape has become sportier than in previous years. The SUV looks low and aerodynamic, and Lexus offers a range of wheel options, depending on the trim. The RX also features a blacked-out C-pillar, which gives the roof a unique floating look.
Powertrain
The gas-only RX 350 comes with a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine making 275 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and either front- or all-wheel drive (FWD or AWD). Though it’s not the quickest SUV in the segment–the run from zero to 60 mph takes around 7.5 seconds with FWD-the RX offers decent acceleration and enough power for most situations. It also offers a smooth ride quality and reasonably quiet interior, even at highway speeds.

Interior
Though the automaker did offer a seven-seat RX-L for a short time, Lexus has since abandoned that effort in favor of keeping the two-row, five-seat RX as it was. It comes standard with synthetic leather, but higher trims get genuine or semi-aniline leather upholstery. Heated front seats are standard, and higher trims add ventilation, along with heated rear outboard seats. Cargo space is below average, at 29.6 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 46.2 cubic feet with them folded flat.
Technology
The 2025 RX 350 comes standard with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 9.8-inch touchscreen. Other standard tech includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 12 speakers, voice commands, HD radio, SiriusXM radio, Bluetooth, ambient interior lighting, and more. Available tech includes a 14-inch infotainment touchscreen with navigation, a 21-speaker stereo, wireless charging, and a digital key system. Lexus improved its infotainment system, making it more intuitive and easier to use than before, and the interface is more responsive than the outgoing system.
Safety
The 2025 RX hasn’t seen crash testing yet, but its predecessor earned a Top Safety Pick designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Standard driver aids include pedestrian and cyclist detection, forward collision warning, forward and reverse automatic braking, parking sensors, safe-exit assist, intersection assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert, and automatic high beams. Available tech includes a camera rearview mirror system, parking assistance, front cross-traffic alert, and a surround-view camera system.

Pricing and Release Date
As of the time of this writing, Lexus hasn’t released pricing for the new RX, but we expect a slight bump over the $49,950 starting price seen for the 2024 model. The 2025 Lexus RX is expected in dealerships in late 2024.
