The 2025 Hyundai Elantra N is a hot hatch without the hatch. This compact sport sedan competes with the likes of the Volkswagen Golf GTI, Honda Civic Type R, and Toyota GR Corolla, and it costs less than two out of the three–even if it has slightly less horsepower. Elantra N is still relatively new in the market as it debuted in 2022, but it hit the ground running as a fun-to-drive affordable sedan with a sport-tuned suspension and performance brakes in a single trim.

What’s New for the 2025 Hyundai Elantra N
Since the Hyundai Elantra N received a refresh for 2024 with new front and rear styling, new dual-projector LED headlights, and redesigned 19-inch wheels, the 2025 model is a carryover model. The Elantra lineup is due for a full redesign for the 2027 model year, so we likely won’t see big changes for 2026 either.
Design
The 2025 Hyundai Elantra N has motorsport-inspired looks with a bold bumper design and aggressive face. It sports N-specific red trim and blacked-out Hyundai badging that helps set it apart from the regular Elantra lineup and falls in line with the rest of the N brand identity. The Elantra N is essentially monospec without package options. You can choose a color, including the $500 N-specific Performance Blue paint, and you can choose whether you want a manual or an automatic transmission. That’s it.
Powertrain
The sporty 276-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is the only powertrain available on the 2025 Elantra N. Automatic transmission vehicles are equipped with “N Grin Shift” (or Next-Generation Shift, NGS) that will briefly increase horsepower to 286. This is a front-wheel-drive-only vehicle, but that’s not a surprise as most of the competitive set are also FWD. The only vehicle offering all-wheel drive (AWD) is the GR Corolla. As previously stated, the only option, other than paint color, is the transmission. A six-speed manual is standard, and an eight-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (DCT) is a $1,500 option. The manual will get better fuel economy and is rated at 21 mpg city and 29 highway, whereas the automatic brings an estimated 20 city and 27 highway.

Interior
The interior of the 2025 Hyundai Elantra N is black on black with the Performance Blue stitching accents. The seats are black leather with Alcantara suede inserts and sport seats. Automatic transmission vehicles are equipped with paddle shifters, and the steering wheel has N button driving modes as well as the NGS boost button. Other N-branded elements include metal petals and door-scuff panels. If you want a sunroof, it’s only available with the automatic transmission. The Elantra N offers competitive trunk space for a compact sedan, at 14.2 cubic feet, but it has less space than some of its hatchback competitors. Where it really wins is in the rear-seat legroom department, which offers 38 inches (compared to the hot hatches, which offer around 35).
Technology
As a sporty sedan, the 2025 Hyundai Elantra N comes with a whole host of high-performance tech, including N Mode Launch control, an electronic limited-slip differential, and a variable exhaust valve system. The Elantra N also has a unique infotainment system on a 10.25-inch touch screen that allows you to specifically tune engine, steering, suspension, and transmission for sportier driving. It comes standard with other tech features like wireless charging, wired-in Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an eight-speaker Bose premium audio system, second-row USB-C charging ports, XM Satellite Radio, and HD radio. One other cool tech feature on the Elantra N: Hyundai’s Digital Key 2, which allows owners to use their phone as the key.
Safety
The 2025 Elantra N comes standard with Hyundai’s SmartSense safety suite, which includes forward collision-avoidance with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control. Other standard safety features include a rear camera with dynamic guidelines as well as front and rear parking sensors. Though the Elantra N hasn’t been specifically tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the regular Elantra gets Good ratings in most crash tests, such that it won a 2024 Top Safety Pick award. It misses this award for 2025 due to a Marginal rating in the updated moderate front overlap test. The National Traffic Highway and Safety Administration (NHTSA) awarded it a top 5-Star overall rating.

Pricing and Release Date
The 2025 Hyundai Elantra N is at dealers now. As of this writing, the base price is $35,545 with the manual transmission. White, black, and a dark blue are standard colors, whereas red, grey and that exclusive Performance Blue are a $500 option. Adding the dual-clutch transmission increases the price by $1,500. While there aren’t any packages or options, there are a number of accessories (like cargo nets and first aid kits), that range from $40 to $150. But for all intents and purposes, the Elantra N is a "WYSIWYG:" what you see is what you get.
