Honda has been without a hybrid compact car since the Insight was discontinued after the 2022 model year. Both the Accord Hybrid and the CR-V Hybrid received full updates in the interim, but Honda appeared content to let rivals like Toyota run away with this piece of the market–until now. Now, the longest-running Honda nameplate in history gets its hybrid variant back.
2025 Honda Civic Hybrid Pricing, Specs, and Release Date

What’s New for the 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid
In terms of styling for the 11th-generation Civic, this is one of the more minor refreshes we’ve seen. Talking specifically of the Civic Hybrid, though, the 2025 model is all-new, bringing a new powertrain to the Civic lineup. The LX trim level is still powered exclusively by a gas engine, but Sport can now be gas-only or hybrid, and Sport Touring is now restricted to the hybrid powertrain. Both propulsion options and all trims are available in both sedan and hatchback form.
Design
The Civic’s styling was revised for 2022, and it now resembles the larger Accord more closely than ever before. We’ve applauded Honda elsewhere for its emphasis on cohesiveness across the brand, and we respect the continuity between the two sedan offerings. The 2025 refresh has not changed that. The front fascia appears much the same at first glance, but close comparison will reveal that some of the components have evolved. The air intake, for example, now flares outward, so that the face no longer pinches in. And the fog lights have been removed–again, for cohesiveness, according to a Honda representative we spoke with. Both Civic Hybrid trims get dark 18-inch wheels, though the Sport Touring’s are distinguished with a machined finish.

Powertrain
Honda tells us that the 2025 Civic Hybrid will be the torquiest non-type-R Civic ever: Its two electric motors will support its engine to produce a combined 200 horsepower and 232 lb-ft of torque. The Civic Hybrid was designed to be quieter than the gas-only model. Like Honda’s other present-day hybrid models, it will feature steering-wheel-mounted paddles that allow the driver to control the level of regenerative braking, as well as selectable Sport, Econ, and Normal drive modes. The range-topping Civic Sport Touring Hybrid will also have a customizable drive mode.

Interior
We had the opportunity to sit in the new Civic Hybrid, though it wasn’t yet available to drive. Between poring over the photos Honda released and checking it out in person, we would be prepared to swear that nothing inside has changed from the 2024 Civic to this new hybrid save for a new color option. The choice of a light gray interior will be available on both hybrid trims. As the higher-end trims in the lineup, both will come with heated front seats, a moonroof, and dual-zone climate control. The Sport Touring trim will of course be upgraded to leather seats.
Technology
Google Built-In joins the Civic lineup for the first time for the 2025 model year, as a top-trim-exclusive feature. This means that the Sport Touring Hybrid will have Google Assistant on board and will also have Google Maps whether or not a smartphone is connected. A three-year unlimited data plan is complimentary, and owners will have to subscribe when that time is up.
The top trim also gets wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, a 9-inch infotainment screen, and a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system. Front USB-C ports become standard on all 2025 Civics, not just the hybrid.
Safety
Thanks to 2024 model year testing, we know that the 11th-gen Honda Civic hatchback and sedan both earned a five-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and a Top Safety Pick from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). We’ll know for sure when the time comes for the 2025 Civic Hybrid to be tested, but based on those results, it’s reasonable to expect good scores. It has the same Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure and the Honda Sensing suite of advanced driver-assistance technology, plus, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert is standard for hybrid models.

Pricing and Release Date
Pricing for the 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid has not been announced as of this writing, although a Honda rep did suggest we might expect it to land “in the upper twenty thousand dollar range.” The Accord Hybrid carried a $5,000 premium over the gas-only model in 2024, so we wouldn’t be surprised to see the Civic Hybrid’s base MSRP cross over into the $30,000s. We will update this article as information becomes available. For now, expect to see the new Civic Hybrid Sedan available a few months before the new Civic Hybrid Hatchback.
