After splitting from Hyundai to become an independently-branded company several years ago, Genesis has built a name for itself with eye-catching, tech-packed luxury vehicles that bring solid value and performance. The G80 sedan is the automaker's midrange offering, slotting between the sporty G70 and flagship G90 in the automaker’s catalog.

What’s New for the 2025 Genesis G80
Genesis gave the G80 a modest refresh for the 2025 model year, which included updated styling inside and out and a new 27-inch combined-screen infotainment system. The car is otherwise unchanged and enters the new model year with the same powertrain options.
Design
The G80 blends futuristic and refined luxury-car styling in an attractive package that draws a surprising amount of attention on the road. It features a large front grille, dramatic “vents” on the front fenders, and a sloping rear shape that makes the car look fast while sitting still.
Powertrain
Genesis offers two powerful engine options for the 2025 G80, but it’s clear that both are oriented more toward refined performance than flat-out speed. The base engine is a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder making 300 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, and the uprated mill is a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 with 375 horses and 391 pounds of torque. All-wheel drive (AWD) and an eight-speed automatic transmission come standard. Both engines deliver strong, smooth acceleration and refined performance, but their tuning and behavior lean into that attitude more than blistering acceleration and aggressive sounds.
Interior
The G80’s interior quality and design rival those of some luxury cars costing tens of thousands more. Synthetic leather comes standard, but higher trims add genuine or Nappa leather, depending on the configuration. Heated front and rear seats are standard, along with a heated steering wheel. Ventilated front seats and a heated front armrest are available.
Technology
Genesis equips a 27-inch display that combines the touchscreen and digital gauge cluster behind one piece of glass. The system comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, HD radio, SiriusXM, USB-A and USB-C ports, Bluetooth, and more. Wireless charging, a Bang and Olufsen sound system, and three-zone automatic climate controls are available. Despite its massive screen and imposing interior presence, the infotainment system is relatively straightforward and easy to use. Like its parent company, Hyundai, Genesis employs simplicity and clear labeling to make its interface less distracting and frustrating to use while driving.
Safety
The 2025 G80 hasn’t been crash-tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) yet, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) rated it five stars overall. Standard driver-assistance tech includes forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, a rearview camera, a parking-assistance system, driver-attention warning, lane-keep assist, lane-departure alert, and safe-exit assist. An advanced parking-assist system is available, along with a blind spot camera system and rear-seat alerts.
Pricing and Release Date
The 2025 G80 starts at $57,100 for the base model, and the top trim with the base engine costs $68,350. Stepping up to the V6 engine pushes the price to up to $77,000. Added-cost options are also available.
