What’s New for the 2025 BMW M3

The M3 was last redesigned for the 2021 model year, introducing its polarizing “beaver teeth” front grille. The xDrive version was added in 2022. For the 2025 model year, the M3 receives a heavily updated infotainment system. It also receives fresh LED designs for the headlights.

Design

The massive twin-kidney grille is the M3 design element to which your eyes will instantly be drawn. It draws inspiration from large BMW grilles of the 1930s, and BMW says it improves airflow to the numerous radiators, coolers, and intercoolers at the front of the sedan. The M3 comes standard with staggered 18-inch front and 19-inch rear alloy wheels, and it's available with 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels (this setup is standard on the Competition).

Powertrain

The BMW M3 comes outfitted with a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine. It develops 473 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. The M3 Competition has a similar powerplant, but with an output of 503 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed to the rear wheels or to available xDrive AWD, which increases output to 523 horsepower. The Competition is exclusively equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The M3 Competition with RWD and the standard M3 both return fuel economy of 16 mpg city, 23 highway, and 19 combined. For the Competition xDrive, combined fuel economy falls to 18 mpg combined. The M3 requires premium fuel.

It is housed on a large curved display that dominates the dash and comprises the 12.3-inch instrument panel and a 14.9-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto.
