The 2025 BMW M2 is an unapologetically fast and fun two-door performance coupe that is engineered for daily-drivable speed. It has enough room for a weekend trip or daily commute and has the powertrain and performance chassis to turn any winding back road into a road-rally stage.

What’s New for the 2025 BMW M2

For the 2025 model year, the M2 receives a bump in power and some new tech. It features BMW’s new iDrive 8.5, which upgrades the infotainment system to a 14.9-inch touchscreen. BMW has removed some of the physical controls and migrated them to the new screen. It also features a new steering wheel design.

Design

The M2 announces its arrival with a menacing external aesthetic. The aggressively and abruptly pronounced wheel arches, large air intakes, and frameless twin-kidney grille are all aftermarket- and motorsport-inspired touches. There are three wheel designs, and all three are staggered at 19 inches in the front and 20 inches in the rear. The M2 offers an impressive level of customization, including unique extra-cost color choices with prices ranging from $650 to $3,000.

Powertrain

Behind the snarling front end resides a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine. It makes 473 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque. That’s up 20 horsepower from the prior model year. Power is sent to the rear wheels through either a six-speed manual transmission or and eight-speed automatic transmission. Selecting the automatic increases torque to 443 pound-feet. The manual version will go from zero to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds, while the automatic will do the same run in 3.9 seconds. The 2025 M2 has a top speed that’s limited to 155 mph, but it can be raised to 177 mph (more on that later).

More than just straight-line speed, the M2 boasts an Active M Differential, Adaptive M Suspension, and M Compound brakes, all as standard equipment.

The manual-equipped M2 returns fuel economy of 16 mpg city, 24 highway, and 19 combined. The automatic returns the same for city and combined, but its highway fuel economy falls to 23 mpg. The M2 requires premium fuel.
