Car beeps after it's off and key is not in ignition

Why is the a beep going off and clicking on
dash of 96 Ford Taurus  when it's off and
parked

Bad ignition lock cylinder or the wire inside is grounding off. Either way you'll need to remove the steering column shroud and lock cylinder to check
