I found a 1992 Plymouth Voyager with 378,000 kms on it with original transmission and motor and it is running great, tranny and all. I can't believe it. Having to buy it for $900. Mistake?

Question type: General

What do you think?  Why would it be in such good condition with high mileage
like that?  Motor is immaculate, no leaks, transmission is  sound.  How could
this be?

I had a 1999 voyager with about 300,000 miles on it. 0riginal motor, tranny , etc. I put 3 timing belts in it. Finally got rid of it when front end started going bad. Tie rod one week. Ball joint next week, etc. Anyway, it was a great van. 4 cyl.. Wish I would have kept it. Good luck !

Thanks for responding. Owner with the above question. Other comments welcome. Looks like I'll have to look out for suspension type problems. Actually the transmission is a bit jerky, but doesn't seem to be slipping. Trans fluid clean as a whistle, seems topped up but I better check again. Is a sealant the right thing to use for worn seals, to soften them up, or is that only if it's leaking, so I've read. Oil is very clean, no oil from gaskets. Anyway, I know, once the transmission does go, it will be impossible to get another one. There are several intact Voyagers for sale that really nice but need a tranny, none available, and not worth the money to do re and re. ***So, if there is anything I can do to preserve it, someone let me know.***please. I will check at transmission shop. Managed to get the van for $800, everything inside like new also, shiny panels, shine on exterior. What a waste to the scrap yard because of lousy transmissions.
