How does warranty work?

Asked by Ryan Apr 06, 2021 at 03:25 PM about the 2020 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SEL S-AWC AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Always been a "new to me" kind of person, never purchased a vehicle from a
dealer. Finally taking the plunge to put the wife in something newer. She's
looking at a 2020 eclipse cross. Mitsubishi's warranty states 6 year/60k
bumper to bumper and 10 year/100k powertrain. Questions as follows:

1. Does the manufacturer warranty transfer if she is the second owner
(vehicle has ~25k miles on it)

2. If she buys at one dealership and has the warranty (whether manufacturer
or CPO warranty) can she take it to any Mitsubishi dealer or does it have to
be the one she bought from specifically?

3. What is the difference between manufacturer warranty and a CPO
warranty if any?

You should read the warranty to know the details. Typically factory warranties are transferable. If I were to buy a CPO car I would want a factory extended warranty, not a third party warranty.

I would also look at the price difference on a 2021 model vs the 2020 model. I bet it's not that much and you get the full warranty because you're the original owner of a brand new vehicle. Hope that helps! Jim

Js has a good point. Dealers try to get higher than new prices for used cars. You can probably get a better deal on a new car.

They are trying to give those vehicles away. $19,998 for a brand new one here!
