Why won't my 97 escort start

Asked by Guru3XK4T Jul 04, 2020 at 02:27 AM about the 1997 Ford Escort 4 Dr LX Sedan

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 97 escort died going down the road
almost like it ran out of gas. Would not restart.
Shanged starter, crank shaft sensor. Nothing.
Ignition coil is good, have spark all the way to
the plugs. Have good fuel pressure out of the
fuel rail. I'm at a loss.

Timing belt may have broken. Run a compression test to be sure. If all cylinders test very low or zero it's the timing belt. Hope that helps! Jim
