I have uninstalled the alternator to my 2002 Mitsubishi Galant ES V6, but the mounting prevents me from pulling the alternator out. How do I pull the alternator out of the car when it's disconnected?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The mount that attaches to the alternator is part of the engine so it looks like I would have
to remove the whole engine just to move the alternator mount out of the way to pull the
alternator out of the car. Do I need to pull parts from underneath the car to clear a path to
the alternator?

That mounting bracket should unbolt from the block. Also I remove the radiator when working on mits this gives you more room to manuver it out. Fans are really the only things I find in the way but I find pulling the radiator and fans as one unit is easier much easier than pulling the fans alone. Normally four bolts on top, the two hoses and unplug the wire harnesses and it will all lift right out of there. I don't drain the radiator either. Take bottom hose and tie wrap it to top hose so very little coolant is lost. Lean it up against something and the coolant will remain in the radiator.
