AC Clip Repair at Dealership Question?

I took my MINI Cooper S 2019 to the dealership for a brake fluid service and
was told my AC Clip is broken and needs to be fixed. I don't drive this car
much and was told it's common, however I never had this happen to my
previous MINI of 15 yrs. The cost for labor is $900 and that one plastic clip
cost $400. I would like to know if I'm being ripped off and how does this clip
even break? The mechanic told me if I don't get it fixed my engine will start
to break apart. So they have to take out my engine to fix this one piece.

Run away from that Dealer as fast as you can! If the hose is flopping around, have the clip replaced elsewhere. Or buy the clip and replace it yourself. I bet, at the Dealer it's a $10 part. I'm also willing to bet you can get something else to hold the hose in place. Like a cable tie. Hope that helps!! Jim
Big freaking scam. Stay away from dealerships after the warranty runs out.

" Brake fluid service " ? At a dealer ship ? You're just asking for trouble . Did they check the muffler bearings , headlight fluid and rotate the lug nuts too ?
That's a five dollar plastic clip, but you have to loosen the line to get it on. Labor shouldn't be more than one hour..... If we're not getting punked here, and this is a serious question, I'd say you either pissed off the mechanic or he just doesn't want to touch your Mini POS, like any other reputable mechanic.
