Car jerking, gas pedal not working from idle

I purchased a 2000 A4 Quattro and drove it before
the purchase. It drove fine for half an hour. After the
purchase I went to fill the tank with 91 and it started
jerking afterwards. Then the gas pedal stopped
working in traffic when sitting at a light. It would
move (with jerking) after turning it off and starting
the engine again.

I guess you didn't get the memo- don't buy an old Audi- get it running and give it away to somebody- not a friend-
the car most likely has a bad throttle body or throttle link. Its also possible that the car is so full of sludge and gunk that its backed up. Buying an old audi is alright if you know what your looking for when your buying one. there is no memo when it comes to an audi the memo applies to any vehicle that is not brand new or older then 13-15 years. its ussaly a good idea to have a garage look the car over before buying any car. You may think its a deal when you buy it but as you found out its not all sunshine and rainbows when this kinda thing happens. if your mechanically inclined i would start from the top and work my way down. Check the fuel, air and spark. Clean the mass air flow sensor and any other sensors attached to the air way. Check the crank case hoses for signs of sludge and clogging as well as breaking. pull all the plugs and replace them with bosch 4 point plugs if they look old. check the fuel filter if it looks like its not been replaced in decades replace it. Check the rear drivers side wheel well for the emissions system lines which commonly rot off on their way to the front. Get back to us after you checked all this off your list.
