Cargurus uses the report agency Autocheck. So that is why you can see some history on some reports and some not.

Vehicle history reports are not foolproof. The reports are only as good as the information they receive. Some repair shops report to VINcheck, others to Carfax, and so on. For example if you look at the Carfax report for my 93 Caprice, which I bought brand new, you'll see where I bought it in October of 1993 then nothing until January of 2000. The Chevrolet Dealer where the vehicle was serviced, exclusively, didn't start reporting to Carfax until January of 2000. So if the vehicle you're looking at was repaired at a shop that didn't report it to Carfax, it won't show up on the Carfax report. There's also no law that says events must be reported to a vehicle history report company. Hope that helps! Jim

If Owner does repair themselves or pays under the table for a fix, it will not show on reports. Got a car clean reports, but it had been rebuilt and made up from 4 different cars. Best to have car inspected if you suspect anything. It can be unsafe to drive rebuilt salvage cars. Brakes, suspension and other components can suddenly have an issues.
