Lincoln LS won't accelerate, but still shifts

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was heading home after a 2 hour drive to the VA
hospital when my Lincoln started slowing down.

I managed to pull over safely and turn the car off.
It turns back on, but won't move at all.

The shifter moves from Park to Reverse, Neutral,
Drive, 2, and 1, but no moving.

It revs up in Drive. If I get to 3k rpm it will move
slightly, but I don't want to push it too much.

I noticed some liquid near the transmission fluid
cap and on a cable with some taped wires coming
from the reservoir, but the fluid is still full and it's
not dark or burnt.

Fluid was changed 7 months ago. Do I have a
loose hose or some supply issue? Broken linkage?
Something deeper?

I took the car into a shop near where I broke down. They didn't railroad me, at least I don't think they did. The transmission hose exploded, which makes sense. I did notice a bit of oil as I said in the original post (why doesn't it link this question to my account? It's my first question, but eh). Some oil was leaking on the tow truck, and the tower gave his opinion as well. Needed that help because I'm more on the IT side and cars are still a challenge without a lot of Chilton's manuals and videos. The shop wants to replace the hose. Hose parts and labor is $139.99, and the transmission fluid exchange is 194.99. There are a few other issues, since it's a Craigslist special. Valve cover leak over the top, possibly into the spark plugs. I may let them take care of that afterwards--I'm going to the VA for a reason, and although my money is burning up in healthcare now, I'll be stable again because my meds are working--but for now, just the transmission line. Total $354.25.
