Were there different steering wheels used on the 1960 -66 C10 Chevy pickups?

Asked by Reuppel Feb 10, 2017 at 12:56 AM about the 1966 Chevrolet C/K 10 RWD

Question type: General

I am restoring a 1966 C10 Chevy pickup. The original steering wheel and
several I had picked up at a salvage yard were not in very good shape.  I
finally found another wheel that was in pretty good shape to restore.  After
hours of work it looked great but when I went to install it I discovered that
the hollow cone part of the wheel where the horn button goes was different
than all the rest.  On the original wheel, the horn button sits down inside the
cone and attaches to a rubber mount.  On the restored wheel, the cone is
too small for the horn button.  The two steering wheels are identical except
for that.

Any suggestions?
