I am thinking of buying a 2017!subaru Impreza but worry about it being very low to the ground. Is it lower than other cars?

Hang on! Friends mistakenly bought a stripped new Imp last year, VERY annoyed that they were bottoming onto their driveway dip. A quick solution involved securing an OB tire/wheel package to raise the car more than an inch, and STILL clear the wheel wells decently. Either 2000-2005 (225/60R16) or 2006-2009 (225/55R17) will fit perfectly, but do NOT try the 2010+ larger OB 225/60-65 sizes. Be sure to get the Premium with alloys so you can play this cheap up-lift game. The junk "basic" steel wheels (if still offered in '17) are junk. Note that my mod works perfectly on all previous gen Imps (inc '16), but I haven't tried it on the new '17 yet, obviously. Further, no clearance isn't "lower than other cars" in a traditional sense, as 5" is pretty generous. But Subie makes money by upcharging a taller silly Crosstrek just because it can. Cheaper to do it my way and retain better handling and a reasonable +1" height increase.
