What engine does my 2000 Windstar have?

Asked by JefferyW Dec 09, 2015 at 11:06 PM about the 2000 Ford Windstar LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm told there was a 3.0 and a 3.8: one source says that if it's an "LX" (which it is) it would have the 3.0; another says that if the 8th number of my VIN is "4" (which it is), then it has a 3.8- which is correct? I've tried to locate this info on the engine but can't find it.

I'm sorry- I don't feel comfortable with giving out the complete VIN number of my vehicle, but thanks for your answer.

OK. I respect that. But it does not tell owner or anything like that. Only Car, year, engine, production number. But it's cool. Have a good evening

Finally found a little metal tag in the engine compartment concerning the spark plugs- it says, "3.8"- I'd heard that Ford switched to the 3.8 late in that year (Wikipedia). Jeffery
