Start but doesn't not run

Truck stays on or on neutral. As soon I shift it in gear drive
or reverse it shuts off automatically. Trans has oil what can
it be?

not much load on the engine in park or neutral. There is a load when you put it in gear. How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes? I'm guessing this is an auto tranny? Note, setting idle speed. In the old days, I'd set the idle speed in drive, at least it wouldn't die on you. Yeah, when you put it park or neutral, the engine would race, but, it was driveable in gear. Just my opinion. This was on high-mileage engines.
