is my altinator bad because all my lights cut off

i was driving my car and all of sudden my lights inside my car went off and now
it wont start.

Boost the car to get it started, let it run 5 mi s then take off the positive battery cable from the battery. If the car stalls out its the alternator if it keeps running its your battery or a ground

Please do not disconnect the battery while it is running that will definitely destroy your computer. You could do that with older vehicles to test to see if the alternator was good but not with the newer vehicles.

I would jump the vehicle to get it started and see if your battery light comes on and if it does you have a bad alternator.

Jump it and get it to the closest auto parts store and they will test plot for free...
