Is this high mileage Outback worth buying?

Asked by Gabi_Bella90 Aug 24, 2019 at 05:19 PM about the 2016 Subaru Outback 2.5i Limited

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I’m considering a 2016 Outback 2.5I Limited. I test
drove the car and fell in love with it. The interior
space, handling, features, and ground clearance
are my favorite things about it. I love everything
about the car. However, it has 77,000 miles on it.
The Carfax checks out good and says it was a
corporate lease. Price is $17,500. Is this a car
worth buying or is that simply too many miles?
What kind of issues and repairs should I expect in
the near future, if any?

I’ll likely be financing 60 months and my trade in is
only worth about $1000. I don’t want to be stuck
making major repairs on a car before I’ve even
paid it off.

Check the price on kbb.com. How many miles a year do you drive? If you drive 20,000 miles a year you will have 177,000 miles on it by the time the loan is paid off. The CVT is the weak point and a new one costs near 8 grand. If the engine uses oil I would not buy it.
