2016 f250 stereo

Bought a factory radio with CD player to replace
my radio out of a 2016 f250 which is the same as
my truck. Dealership told my it won't work because
Ford vin locks them for security. They also said
there is no way to make it work. Anyone run into
this?

This is true,unless you have the vin to the vehicle the radio came from,
