Is it possible that water is getting into my MKX from underneath?

I'm going to assume you're joking, right? No, I am not driving through deep water??? I just find it hard to believe that water is coming in through the doors when the carpet by the doors is dry. Carpets by the pedals are dry. Sunroof ports are clear. However, there is boatload of water on the floors and the only thing I can guess is that the water is coming in from underneath. We have had a lot of rain storms as of late and I am wondering if the water is somehow being kicked up from underneath and getting in through an opening somewhere.

Deep water would explain it but perhaps your windshield is leaking.

If my windshield was leaking wouldn't it be reasonable to expect that the carpets under the dash would be wet? They are dry. They are wet at the floor only where the matts are/were. I can assure you, if I was driving through deep water I'm pretty sure I would notice. I drive paved roads to work and back every day. Although, as said before there has been a lot of water on the roads. Today it was slush. Everything in the car is dry except the floors, which is why I'm thinking it's getting in from the undercarriage somewhere.

I doubt the water is from splashing but you should inspect for holes in the floor that could let water in.

Yes, I would like to get it up on a hoist and thoroughly inspect under the car and then possibly check for holes from the inside out if nothing is found. I just don't relish the idea of having all the carpets in the car pulled and have to order new ones. Thanks for the suggestions. If you have any more I am open to hearing them.

Obviously you must find the leak source before you can fix it. If the moisture smells like anti freeze the heater core is leaking.

Besides the windshield, check out the seal and seams around your trunk.
