Engine Light/Bad Battery?

Asked by Lawrence Nov 11, 2018 at 11:41 PM about the 2015 Chevrolet Malibu 2LT FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2015 Malibu and the check engine light came on.  I took it to
Autozone and the code reader said it was a bad battery.  They gave me a
replacement since I had just bought the battery a year ago.  I put in the new
battery and the check engine light went off but came back on a few miles
later.  I went back to Autozone the next day and they said that it was reading
as a bad battery again.  I explained to them that this battery was brand new
and they said it will take a while for the system to reset.  So 2 weeks later
and I'm still driving around with this problem.  The remote start won't work
and all the electronics in the car restart every time the car goes into auto
stop.  Any suggestions?

What are the actual codes? Never take the word of the morons at Auto Zone.

Never actually saw what the code was. Just thought of something. Could it be the battery in the trunk that has gone bad?

Any resolution help on this one? I’m having this issue right now with my 2014 Malibu. Battery went dead. O’riellys said it was a dead battery (factory one so it was old) changed it out. Everything was fine. Now the check engine light is on and remote start won’t work. I’m dreading the $145 diagnosis fee Chevy is gonna charge me next week.

it is the dual battery control module performance. your main battery and the one in the truck are not communicating with one another.
