My 2013 Malibu stalls the dealer has no clue wants wrong after getting fuel pump $803.00 and a few other things another $235.00 it worked one day. It's been at the dealer for a week. They still can't find the problem they say it has no codes. So my question is can it be the anti-theft device they making my car stall on its own.

I've had this issue for about a year with my 2013. Multiple times to the dealership, charged the computers, wires and all kinds of stuff. I guess I'm confused why my dealership keeps acting like they have no idea when this is clearly an issue with the Malibu's.

Can we all call The GM and complain about this issue with the Malibu. I've fought with them 2x on the phone. I recently bought the car and b cause I've never received a letter from GM I'm not intitled to the open recall that she said she couldn't tell me about. SMH . I know there has to be a recall. Here is the number18006302438

Last night (January 21, 2019) I've experienced the anti-theft system for the first time. I manually unlocked the driver side and the passenger side to allow both my pregnant wife and myself into the car. I noticed that no electronics were on as normally upon opening the door to our 2013 Malibu LTZ. Still, I inserted my key into the ignition and no turn-over. No radio. Nothing. My wife and I sat there in the freezing car for an hour trying to call for road side assistance and look for answers through the manual. Managed to arrange a tow, but it would take another hour to get there. We were pissed. This car has given is nothing but problems since we bought the car nearly three years ago, but I tried one more thing other than looking under the hood. With the key turned to the On/Run position I pressed the electronic seat adjuster and everything turned on. EVERYTHING. I turned the engine and was able to drive off. It's important to note that once the car turned on a message appeared on the display. It said (#) key(s) recognized for this vehicle. If the key is correct and it is locked in the ignition switch. Try adjusting the seat. I tried the radio and it did nothing, but I pressed the button to move the seat backward...voila. It is a clever system, however compiled onto the other issues we have had with this car, personally, we are very disappointed in General Motors.

Mine does this too. I stay in the car, push the start/stop button to clear the dash. Wait for a minute with door open until dash lights come on afain and then start the car. I have also tried pushing start/stop button to clear the dash, shut the door, use the remote to lock myself in, unlocking it and then start the car. I’m sick of it happening too. Bloody nuisance.

I have a 2014 chevy malibu and for the past 2 days everytime i turn on my car the service anti deterrent theft light keeps coming on. So there has to be something with this particular model. While in my car i locked it with my button on my key ring, set the alarm then unlocked the car and my car started right up.

Okay, I found out that there is an issue with the wiring inside the car itself. Under the seats (both in front) where a wire ground faults from time to time. For me, it happens on humid rainy days (not all the time, when it does it's those days). It happened again last night. All I did was manually unlock the car, sat inside, closed the door, moved the seat (driver) and the car's display lit up. From there I inserted the key and an odd message popped up. Different from the last two times this happened as it read: "open and the close your driver side window". After that was done, the display went to my normally selected category and information setting. It's the wiring. From the multiple grounding issues these cars have to the inexplicable way the manufacturer decided to run the wiring for the car's main electronics under a seat using cheaply insulated cables. They know this, yet won't issue a recall, smh...

GM is pathetic for not inciting a recall! I’ve had this random issue with my 2016 Impala LTZ with our car not starting and it’s due to the anti theft system. I took it in to Chevy in March and they said nothing is wrong with it. To boot, if anyone here tries to use the GM app, it’s also USELESS when this occurs because you still CAN’T start or open the car! In fact it indicates nothing is wrong at all! POS. Bring it in.....for $168 we’ll run diagnostics to tell you the truth!

This happened to me yesterday for the first time. If it happens again I will disconnect the OnStar device in the trunk. OnStar also has the capability to disable your car, even if you don't have an OnStar subscription. There are YouTube videos that show you how to disable this device. It's supposed to be very easy.

...guys, call your mechanic and mention "pass-lock". That's why it's is happening.

My 2013 Malibu did this: CHANGE THE BATTERIES IN YOUR REMOTE, BOTH KEYS IF YOU HAVE BOTH OF THEM. Then I had to jump start the car because I ran the battery dead trying to start. THIS WORKS!!!!! Total cost $5.00 at the local dollar store.

If the amber key lock light is on and service theft system is flashing and your car still starts and runs perform this service procedure called a hard immobilizer reboot. Remove the negative battery cable for 15 to 20 minutes then connect back to battery. Start car. The light will go out and information center will be clear of theft service alert. If your car is not starting but you have the correct key you have used to start it before, go to your information center and scroll down to key relearn and select the check button. This will relearn the key. If this fails you will have to do the GM key relearn by inserting the key and turn it to the run position without cranking the car. Leave it in this position for 10 minutes or until the key- lock light on the dash goes out. wait 5 seconds then repeat this 2 more times. Then start the vehicle. If all the above still fails to help correct the start up problem you have to inspect the ignition security wires going to the ignition. Remove the column cover and mover the plug for the ignition security key system. Rock the small plu back and forth. There should be no movement. If there is you have a problem in the housing. To bypass this issue permanently run a small wire connecting the 2 wires. This will bypass the problem but you will still see the service theft light on. However, your vehicle will start every time without any theft system and if your stuck get you back on the road until you can dig up the funds for a new column module. That's the big housing that the ignition is connected to.

My 2014 Ipala is doing the same thing. We disconnected the positive battery cable and then reconnected it. As soon as it was reconnected, power was restored to the car and it started without a problem. We have done this twice in the past week. Here's hoping someone can figure out what the problem is and prevent its recurrence instead of popping the hood every time it happens.

I just had the same problem this morning with my 2015 Chevrolet Impala LTZ. Wouldn't start. Had it jumped. Battery tested fine, but had some corrosion on the cable where it connects to the battery. Service got said to disconnect it and clean it real good. After disconnecting negative cable, cleaning, reconnecting - no power at all, not even a blinking security light. Tested battery again, plenty of charge. Disconnected all battery cables again and reconnected, still nothing. Tried using the manual key and holding in unlock position and lock positions for 20 seconds - nothing. Any ideas?
