2002 Ford Escort Oil service light

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
So I have a 2002 Ford escort and obviously has the
oil light which does not come on at all, I have
driven the car with no oil, i get random oil changes
just because my light never comes on, whether
there is oil in the engine or not! The car has been in
a accident from the front so I was thinking it could
be a oil sensor or something like that ? Secondly,
everytime i turn on my headlights they turn on
normal, signals work and everything but on my
dashboard it shows the highlight sensor, so it
basically is indicating the high lights are on when
really are not, idk how to fix that as well ?

I did not know 2002 Escorts had an oil change reminder. I would change oil every 3,000 miles, not randomly.
I think you are seeing the low oil pressure light which is bad news. Never let the oil get that low or you will destroy your engine. I recommend checking the oil level every time you fill it up with gas.
The problem is you are running the engine out of oil which means you must not be checking the oil level.
I check the oil level through the oil dipstick and ot seems good, my next guess would be the oil sensor is faulty, causing the light to not turn on at all for any reason ?
I based my answer on your statement that you ran the engine out of oil.
Sorry, misread. I have ran the engine without oil and the light NEVER came on. I noticed the car had no oil when the engine started shaking a lot and sounded dry. As of now i run it with oil.
You are incredibly lucky that the engine did not self destruct the first time it ran out of oil. Maybe the oil pressure sender on the engine is bad.
Tell me about it ! So would you recommend that be the first thing I change ?
Just had my oil changed today in my 2002 Ford explore. They had to reset the oil sensor. I was feeling shaking before.. But now it seems to be shaking more. What could be the problem?
