we have a 1988 trans am . window regulator is faulty .
Does this 3rd gen coup have window regulator motors with 9 or 12 tooth gear ?
can these gears be swapped 12 -9 and vice versa ?
Motors are cheap. I would get the correct motor and replace the faulty one with it.
Hi, thanks for replying. I am trying to make sure I have the right motor sent .. There are lift motors all over Ebay , trouble is they all say ( when you enter vehicle details in the boxes ) this motor will fit your vehicle ! same answer for both 9 and 12 toothed versions . my question also asked if I have one sent here ( New Zealand ) and it has a different gear ratio than the one that will be taken out of the door can I swap the gears over ? the car is a 1988 Trans Am 5 Ltr .
Sorry, I do not know what gears your motor has. When I replaced mine, I just asked for a motor from my parts store and installed what they gave me. Worked fine so I had no issues. Sorry you are so far away but I would just go to an internet site like Rock Auto or Auto Zone and see what they recommend as a replacement.
