Car idles then dies out when give it gas

Car will start okay and idle good, then go to give it
gas and it dies out. Sometimes will drive maybe
half a mile then cut out. DAILY DRIVER PLEASE

It’s been a long time but I think the Chevette had the four-cylinder carburetor motor mechanical pop you should have at least 7 to 10 the 14 pounds of feel pressure I would overhaul the carburetor rebuild take it off take it apart and totally clean iit with a rebuild kit also replaced the fuel filter and make sure there is no vacuum hose is broken or fell off usually have a carbureted motor starts and then you give it gas it dies it’s a sign of low fuel pressure or restricted Gas

i'd change the fuel filter first then the fuel pump. not sure if the pump is mechanical or electric on that year.
