Carfax says that vehicle was a manufacturer buyback. Is it safe?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Infiniti Q50 2014 with 18k miles is for sale. The carfax
report states that it was bought back from Nissan in
California because of, "iKey inoperable". I wanted to know
if it was safe to buy and if it would have more problems in
the future since it was an electronic issue. Please help!

If Nissan bought the car back the problem must have been severe. If you are buying this from a Nissan dealer what do they say about it? What type of warranty are they offering?

I certainly would not pay the Blue Book dealer price and would want a major discount for a car with a history like this one.

I agree 100% with F_O_R- even going as far to say there really isn't an infiniti worth the headaches listed in the CarFax

It's actually a used a car dealer that specializes in selling manufacturer buybacks. They're offering the manufacturer warranty that is left on the car. I don't remember exactly how much but I believe 40k miles bumper to bumper and 50k miles on mechanical I believe. I'll get the exact amount and post it.

If you decide to buy this car I would make sure and get an extended warranty that covers issues like the iKey. Don't take the salesman's word for it, make him show you in the policy where it covers these sorts of problems.

Absolutely, I'll definitely make my decision off of what they offer.

Ask them if they will take the car back if you have any iKey problems in the first few weeks. If they say yes get it in writing.
