2013 Toyota Camry XLE 6 Cyl, GPS Software Update

The factory install GPS has terrible direction software, ie; directs against
oneway streets, uses right angle directions to get to locations and directs
highway exists across three lanes.
I use a Garmin to get the connect directions since I purchased the vehicle new.  
The dealer tells me the update for the software is around $200.  Is the latest
software update any better the orginal?  Can the software be purchase
elsewhere?
