2013 Nissan maxima Shut off while driving

Car shut off while driving will crank but sputters
and then shuts back off

If you can see the valve train through the oil fill cap see if they turn when you crank it a little , kinda sounds like the timing belt broke . scan for codes even if the light ain't on .
