Check Engine Light

My Check Engine Light continues
to come on then go off
periodically.  The test says its the
Catalytic Converter.  I have had
this replaced once due to a recall.  
How many times does this part
have to be replaced?  I have
130,000+ miles on my car.  I'm
wondering if this is really the
problem?  Has anyone had this
issue?
