I have a 2012 Outback with 150,000 miles. A week ago it started shutter. The traction control and brake lights are on. Dealer changed brake module. Now still does the same. Any idea what is wrong ?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Shutters, loss of power, sometimes a tapping sound or like a broken rod. The
next day will start and run fine for a while. Blue smoke when first start.

Hard to say from your description. If the check engine light is on have the codes read. If you have a CVT I would check it out as well as the engine. The blue smoke is a worn engine, probably valve seals.

I agree, blue smoke is NOT GOOD.....150,000 miles is the range for consideration to switch cars...... Even though it's a 2012... I would consider swapping it for a younger newer car with less miles.. Are you the original owner?? If YES, that might make a difference... BUT, Im guessing that you are not...

This exact thing happened on my 2004 impreza, ended up being the alternator. Good luck!
